Sturminster Newton Mill: Geoff Kersey Tutorial

This was the second tutorial I've completed by watercolor artist Geoff Kersey at watercolourlandscapes.co.uk. I really love listening to his voice, and his instruction is so clear and helpful. He uses a more limited color palette, so I feel like after I've done a few of his paintings I will know those pigments really well, which is a useful thing when you're learning watercolor.

Some of the take-aways I learned from Geoff this time around were painting those bare-branched trees (I want to practice making the branches finer and more graceful), snow shadows (I like how the dry brush work lets the paint skip in places, showing uneven strokes), and those tiny windows (I love how the light shows the recessed spaces inside each window frame). So many things to try and apply to future paintings!

On to another one; I've already bookmarked about a dozen that I want to try! He has just added a free tutorial to his website, apparently, if you want to check it out. Here's the link again. Worth the membership, in my opinion!
